Hailing from the Madiran region of southwest France, where Tannat is the primary grape grown and used for blending, this black-berried grape has found a perfect home in Virginia. Perfumed, stewed red fruits, tar. Layered with flavors of smoke, ink, cooked strawberry, with cocoa and leather from the long oak aging. A 20% blend of Fer Sevadou brings in more red fruit character with sour cherry and raspberry. The big structured tannins carry through to a long lingering finish and promise a long life in the bottle.
