Tannat Cellar Reserve - 2008

Tannat Cellar Reserve - 2008

Tucked in the recesses of our barrel room were four barrels of Tannat from the 2008 vintage. Named after the intense tannic character this wine naturally has, these tannins have been slowly softening ever since. You can open it now or enjoy it in years to come, but either way it will be robust, fruit foward, and quite quaffable.

Food Pairing Notes
A big assertive wine such as this, is fruit forward and has firm strong tannins that will pair wonderfully with red meats. Make sure they are well caramelized from grilling or roasting and accompanied by red-wine based sauces. The Tannat has a particular smoky, “roasted meat” flavor profile, which lends itself to earthy mushroom dishes, bean and smoked meat dishes like cassoulette, which can be studded with sausages and duck. And don't forget a well caramelized beef roast! Remember, the food should be as big in flavor as our Tannat. For those of you who are cigar smokers, you may have found a perfect after-dinner wine!
